Taxes & Government Benefits

Canada's tax system is also its benefits system — much newcomer support is paid through the CRA. This course teaches you to read a pay stub and a T4, apply for the Canada Child Benefit and the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (which replaced the GST/HST credit in July 2026) in your first year, file your first return (with free tax-clinic options), understand how RRSP and TFSA room works, call the CRA without panic, and reply correctly to a CRA review letter. Figures checked for 2026 (July 2026 to June 2027); check canada.ca for the current amounts.
