What Is a Browser?

A browser is an app that lets you see websites. The most common browsers are Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. Your phone and computer already have a browser installed. Look for one of these icons on your home screen.

Opening the Browser

Tap the browser icon to open it. You will see a long white bar at the top of the screen. This is called the address bar. This is where you type the website address. You can also type words to search for something.

Going to a Website

To visit a website, tap the address bar. Type the website address. For example, type www.canada.ca to visit the Government of Canada website. Then tap Enter or Go on your keyboard. Wait for the…
