OCT application — a walkthrough for Ontario applicants

Lesson 2 of 4 in Credential Evaluation & Provincial Certification · 24 minutes

The Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) issues the Certificate of Qualification and Registration — and assesses your credentials itself, with documents sent directly from your institutions. This lesson walks through the full application: what to send, what to avoid paying for, how to read the decision letter, and the newer requirements (Sexual Abuse Prevention Program, Math Proficiency Test).

What you'll learn

  • Complete the OCT online application correctly
  • Send supporting documents through the channels the OCT actually requires
  • Interpret the decision letter and respond to conditions safely
  • Understand who can hold a Transitional Certificate, and the Math Proficiency Test rule for IETs

Your guide is the OCT's own applicant checklist on oct.ca — this lesson walks you through the process as if you were starting today.
