Apprenticeship is run by each province and territory. The office that registers your apprenticeship in Ontario is different from the one in BC or Alberta. Each has its own forms, fees and rules. This lesson is your map.
1. Skilled Trades Ontario (STO)
Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) is Ontario's apprenticeship and trades certification agency. It replaced the Ontario College of Trades in 2022.
What it does: • Approves apprentices and sponsors, and registers training agreements. • Sets the training standards, curriculum standards and exams for each trade. • Runs the certification exams. • Issues Certificates of Apprenticeship and Certificates of Qualification (CofQ). • Keeps the Public Register of…
